October Letter from the Editor: Backwoods Boots

1 year ago Editor's Note0

Some cowhands purchase boots for style, others comfort.

Cowgirl Candace goes for functionality — first. A rural reporter on the go, my farm footwear has to fit well with so many random activities both in and outdoors.

Inclement weather, rough terrain, crazy people: I require boots that can handle sticky situations. Lol.

If my boots refuse to hold up, I simply recycle them in the cutest of ways, which you will learn during October’s backwoods boots edition.

Since it’s also Halloween’s month, featured photographer J Coles and I moseyed next door to Seale, Alabama, to capture cowboy boots in action at the mythical farm home of contemporary artist Butch Anthony.

— Ride on!
