‘Martini’ by Jean Droit

8 months ago Pop Culture0

French visual artist Jean Droit (1884-1961) built an unforgettable career as a water colorist and illustrator. And his vibrant “Martini” jockey vintage ad poster from 1948 is one of my most colorful wall art pieces to accessorize my country kitchen. Filled with movement and arching lines, the poster implies that distillery Martini and Rossi is the winner in every race, especially after the brand made the smart decision to export their product promptly and became a popular leader in its industry. As I whip up Southern cuisine, this illustration instantly connects me to this month’s derby days.
