Whether you’re staycationing in Georgia or vacationing in Cuba this year, it would behoove you to check out the area’s historic district. Knowing a district’s architectural beginnings deepens appreciation for the neighborhood and increases the likelihood of community unity, preservation and tourism. Dig deep enough, and you might discover your family has played a major role in a specific section of town. In fact, I come from a family of brick masons, so if you ever visit Milledgeville, Georgia, my folks had a hand in its downtown development.
