Who: Southern Styles & Steeds (SS&S)
What: SS&S is a personal blogazine exploring the fashion, beauty, lifestyle and editorial career of a fourth-generation farm girl of African-American descent. The publication merges informative blog posts and digital magazine designs to tell inspiring, valuable stories by founder Candace Dantes (a.k.a. Cowgirl Candace). She shares her vintage-to-contemporary country Western style and Southern heritage with her readers (oftentimes referred to as her “mavericks”).
Where: SS&S originated in Milledgeville, Georgia, hometown of Cowgirl Candace. Milledgeville also is the backdrop to the digital publication’s content.
Why: The blogazine is an opportunity to share the beautiful culture and successful career of an African-American cowgirl from the South. It celebrates country living and documents the award-winning writer’s life growing up on a Georgia farm to now contributing to international publications and campaigns.
When: SS&S launched January 2013.
